 Leora Paquin, 95

Mentor - Leora Paquin, 95, died Wednesday, December 20, 2000 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 23, at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor with Rev. Sylvia Jerdee officiating. Marilyn Arness was the organist, and Duane Arness was the soloist. Casketbearers were Allen Paquin, Mike Paquin, Jason Audette, Jared Audette, Gary Thibert, Greg Thibert, John Thibert and Jim Thibert. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery in East Grand Forks. Johnson Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.

Leora Louise Krueger was born on May 12, 1905 in Red Lake Falls, the daughter of William and Louise (Gerlach) Krueger. She grew up in Red Lake Falls where she attended school and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1922. She attended the University of North Dakota and taught in Red Lake county for many years.

On December 30, 1936, she was married to Arthur Paquin at Argyle. The couple lived in McIntosh and Erskine for a short time before moving to East Grand Forks in 1943. Arthur died on December 15, 1971. In 1987, Leora moved to Mentor and resided there until March 19, 1999 when she entered Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine.

She was active in her church, school and the Scouting program.

Leora enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, gardening, canning, cooking and helping her sons with the farm work until she was well into her 70's.

Survivors include two sons, Richard (Debbie) Paquin and David (Nancy) Paquin, both of Mentor; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Bette McAnulty; and several nieces and nephews.

Leora was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister, Irene Hance. A00003B2000DC27
