Odin Osness, 71

Thief River Falls - Odin Osness, 71, died Friday, August 8, 1997 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 12 at 10:30 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Reverend Galen Sylvester officiating. Music was provided by organist Joyce Halbasch and soloist Judith Lawrence. Casketbearers were Bill VanDeventer, Winton Fellman, Bill Halbasch, Mel Burrell, Ray Olson and Mike Melby. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery. The Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Odin Osness was born July 18, 1926 in Numedal township, Pennington County, the son of Joseph and Sophie (Ronning) Osness. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended school in Numedal township. Odin had polio at the age of 12 years and spent his life with an uplifting attitude. Odin moved into Thief River Falls in the early 1960's For many years, he enjoyed writing the Numedal township community news. He also worked as a bookkeeper for some of the local businesses. In September of 1980, he moved to Riverside Terrace where he became very active in the High Rise Club. He served as treasurer for 10 years and also as the club historian. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church..

Odin is survived by his nephews, Merle (Debra) Stinar of Warren and James (Cheryl) Stinar of Las Vegas, NV; brother-in-law, Wallace Stinar of Warren; five nieces; one nephew; and special friend, Florence Carlson of Thief River Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Minnie Stinar.
