
Strandquist - Wallace C. Onger, 77, died Sunday, February 1, 1998 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 5 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Strandquist with Pastors Erling Huglen and Dale Rosette officiating. Ellen Johnson was the organist, and vocal music was provided by Corienne Jacobson. Casketbearers were Justin Morrell, Todd Nelson, Don Carlson, David Monjeau, Thomas Monjeau and Jared Morrell. Interment was held at the Bethesda Lutheran Cemetery. The Collins Funeral Home of Karlstad was in charge of the arrangements.
Wallace Clifford Onger was born on November 22, 1920 at Strandquist, the son of Gustave and Hilma (Johnson) Onger. He grew to manhood there and graduated from Strandquist High School in 1940. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church.
In May of 1956 Wally was united in marriage to Jeanette Monjeau at St. Paul. With the exception of four years in St. Paul, the couple has lived and farmed in Lincoln township east of Strandquist since their marriage.
He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church.
Wally is survived by his wife, Jeanette; one son, Wayne (Diane) Onger of Grand Forks, ND; one daughter, Richjeanna Keiser of Strandquist; two grandsons; one brother, Bert (Hilda) Onger of Tucson, AZ; one sister, Hildur (Lloyd) Yoraway of Escondido, CA; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
