Mabel Olson, 92
Kennedy- Mabel Olson, 92, died Wednesday, October 25, 2000 at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Strandquist with Rev. Erik Heskin officiating. Special music was provided by Marlys and Donald Lefrooth. Casketbearers were Erick Larson, Kim Larson, Lenny Lofstrom, John Lofstrom, Ronald Johnson and Frederick Johnson. Interment was in Bethesda Lutheran Cemetery in Strandquist with Collins Funeral Home of Karlstad in charge of the arrangements.
Mabel Victoria Olson was born on November 7, 1907 at Strandquist, the daughter of Alvin and Ragna (Erickson) Johnson. She grew up and attended school at Strandquist and was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church.
On September 4, 1926, Mabel was united in marriage to Erick Olson at Strandquist. The couple farmed near Strandquist until 1955 when they moved into town. After Erick died in January of 1956, Mabel continued to make her home in Strandquist for several years. She moved to Kennedy before moving to the Iron Range where she resided with her daughter, Jeanette, and then to Emerald, Wisc. where she lived with her granddaughter, Sharon. In 1990, Mabel returned to Kennedy where she made her home at Kennedy Apartments. For the past three years, she had resided at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center.
Mabel is survived by a daughter, Jeanette Johnson of Mountain Iron; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; a sister Eunice Lofstrom of Strandquist; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son in infancy; a daughter, Adeline Larson; six brothers, Rudy, Helmer, Lloyd, Melvin, Roland and Wilfred; two sisters, Gladys Rud and Maxine Kostrzewski; two sons-in-law, Robert Larson and Roland Johnson; a granddaughter, Shelly Swanson; and a grandson in infancy.
