ÝÝÝThief River Falls - Herbert Olson, 80, died on Friday, August 27, 2004 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, September 1 (today), at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. Casket bearers include Brian Olson, Randy Olson, Craig Olson, Gary Hoglo, Peter Mosbeck, Kelly Mosbeck, Steven Mosbeck and Gary Mosbeck.Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

ÝÝÝVisitation will one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.

ÝÝÝHerbert Omer Olson was born on June 18, 1924 in Thief River Falls, the son of Edwin and Alma (Sletten) Olson.He was raised for the first eight years of his life in Grygla, and then moved with his family to Thief River Falls.He served in the US Army for a time. He returned home and was united in marriage to M. Jane Dowling on March 26, 1949.To this union five children were born. Herb worked at Kiewels, Falls Concrete and Owens Appliance as a driver, and at Hartz, docking trucks, retiring in 1990. He enjoyed working as a mechanic and was proficient at parking and backing up semi-trucks.

ÝÝÝHerb was an avid deer hunter. He also enjoyed driving around the countryside and tinkering.Herb was a naturally talented musician, who was fluent in playing the guitar, violin, accordion, and the banjo.

ÝÝÝHerbert is survived by special friend Mae Lindquist of Thief River Falls; mother of Herberts children, M. Jane Olson of Plummer; five children: Nancy (James) Heisler of Beltrami, Michael Olson of Plummer, Eddy (Linda) Olson of Red Lake Falls, Julie (Randy) Hesse of Bryant, S.D.; and Thomas (Peggy) Olson of Crookston; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Leonard (Marlene) Olson of Thief River Falls, Amorin (Elody) Olson of Thief River Falls; one sister, Deloris "Laura" Hoglo of St. Hilaire; and other relatives and friends.

ÝÝÝHe was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Orvis, Erwin, and Morris; and one granddaughter.ÝÝÝA00003B2004SP01
