
Perham - Floyd B. Olson, 87, died Tuesday, October 6, 1998 at the Perham Memorial Hospital in Perham
Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 8 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Perham with Reverend Richard Kennedy officiating. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls. The Schoeneberger Funeral Home of Perham was in charge of the arrangements.
Floyd Benith Olson was born on December 7, 1910 in Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Sygrud and Mae Olson. He was united in marriage to Mabel Swanson on August 3, 1933 in Warren. Floyd worked at various jobs, from creamery operator to salesman to resort and motel owner.
After retiring to a home on Marion Lake, he become a charter member of the Marion Lake Association, serving on the board for several years, a number of those years as president. For the past tow years, Floyd was an important part of the Otter Tail County Volunteer Transportation program, helping retirees and seniors get to and from doctor's appointments.
He was a member of the Mt. Tabor Masonic Lodge and The Olive Branch Eastern Star, both of Detroit Lakes and a member of Calvary Lutheran Church of Perham.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Mabel; two daughters, Jane Bonander of White Bear Lake and Suellen (Carl) Rundquist of Arden Hills; one son, Thomas (Harriet) Olson of Norwalk, CA; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Betty Bowers of New York Mills and Martha Stenseth of Thief River Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and three sisters.
