
Badger - Evelyn Olson, 85, died Thursday, January 20, 2000 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 25 at Faith Lutheran Church, rural Badger, with Rev. Dan Knock officiating. Linda Sovde was the organist, and John Gaukerud was the vocalist. Casketbearers were Evelyn's grandchildren, Sheldon, Donovan, Cameron, Shannon, Brandon and Shane Olson, Joni Guntzel and Amber Gooch. Burial was in Nannestad Cemetery, rural Badger.
Evelyn Hannah Johnson was born on January 13, 1915 in the Benwood area, the daughter of Albert and Mable (Lang) Johnson. She grew up at Badger, graduating from Badger High School in 1933. She attended Moorhead State Teachers College and taught in rural schools in Roseau county for five years.
On June 19, 1939 she married Harry Orlando Olson at Greenbush. They farmed at rural Badger for over 40 years. In 1979 they built a new home near their farm. For several years they enjoyed spending the winter months in Arizona. Harry died on September 20, 1994.
Evelyn was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid. She was particularly interested in quilting.
Survivors include three sons, Dennis (Audrey) of Badger, Kirby (Judi) of Bemidji and Bruce of Badger; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alden Johnson of Karlstad and Cordie (Stella) Johnson of Park Rapids; and one sister Nora Burton of Moorhead.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
