Ervin Olson, 57

Thief River Falls - Ervin Olson, 57, died Friday, November 6, 1998 at his home in Norden township of Pennington county.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, November 11) at Our Saviour's Free Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend Wesley Langaas officiating. Bev Kays will be the organist. Interment will be on his home farm in Norden township of Pennington county.

Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls with a 7 p.m. prayer service and for one hour prior to services at the church.

Ervin Norman Olson was born on March 7, 1941 in Thief River Falls, the son of Glen and Alinda (Jablinske) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1959.

Ervin was united in marriage to Joyce Legg on June 24, 1961 at Trinity Lutheran Church. He worked construction for a few years and then worked at Charlie's Tire Service until 1965. He was also employed in maintenance at Arctic Enterprises until 1981 and then resumed working there in 1987. Ervin farmed in Norden township his entire life.

He enjoyed fishing, farming and spending time with family and friends. He took great pride in his home and family and was a member of Abundant Life Church where he was on the church council.

Ervin is survived by his wife, Joyce; two sons, Tron (Kelly) Olson of Brainerd and Brent Olson of Thief River Falls; one daughter, Tricia (Steve) Janousek of Brainerd; eight grandchildren; his mother, Alinda Olson of Thief River Falls; one brother, Ronald (Kathy) Olson of Nisswa; and several nieces, nephews and God children.

He was preceded in death by his father.
