
Karlstad - Olger B. Olsen, 88, died on Thursday, February 5, 1998 at the Karlstad Memorial Nursing Center.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 9 at 2 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Karstad with Pastors Gary Halverson and Raynerd Huglen officiating. Corienne Jacobson was the organist, and vocal music was provided by Arlene Lee. Casketbearers were Kenneth Olson, Roger Thompson, Allen Larson, Rod Thompson, Bill McDonald and Swede Larson. Interment was held at Trinity Cemetery in Edinburg, ND. The Collins Funeral Home of Karlstad was in charge of the arrangements.
Olger Bernard Olsen, the son of Ben and Alma (Kivle) Olsen, was born on January 18, 1910 near Edinburg, ND. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He graduated from Edinburg High School in 1927. He also attended Wahpeton State School of Science.
On September 1, 1940 Olger was united in marriage to Marie Lee at Newfolden. The couple resided at Ipswich, SD where he was employed by the power company. The couple then moved to Grand Forks, ND and later to Hallock where Olger began a 29-year employment with Ottertail Power Co. In September of 1945 the couple moved to Karlstad where they have since made their home. Olger retired in 1975. Since September of 1997 he was a resident of Karlstad Memorial Nursing Center.
He was an active member of First Lutheran Church of Karlstad where he served on the church council. He was a member of the Karlstad Fire Department for many years, was a member of the Karlstad Lions Club and was active in a variety of community affairs.
Olger is survived by his wife, Marie; one son, Byron of Karlstad; one daughter, Myrna Harper of Minneapolis; one granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Casper, Arnold and one in infancy.
