
Stephen - Raymond Nowacki, 77, died Sunday, March 23, 1997 at the Good Samaritan Center in East Grand Forks. Arrangements are with Quanrud-DuBore Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 26 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church of Stephen. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery of Stephen. Visitation was held Tuesday, March 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the church and also one hour prior to services.
Raymond Anthony Nowacki was born on June 13, 1919 in Argyle, the son of Frank and Pauline (Wrukus) Nowacki. He was raised in Argyle where he graduated from high school. He worked briefly out west with his brother Norbert before joining the Army in 1942. He was with the Signal Corp. where he was stationed in Iceland and was a 4th Sargent until 1945. In 1946 he started Nowacki Oil and was active in the business until retiring in 1991. On January 26, 1954 he was united in marriage to Lillian Judovsky in Warren. They made their home in Stephen.
He was a member of the St. Stephen Catholic Church, American Legion, Knights of Columbus, Lions and Tri-Valley Council. He was Mayor of Stephen for eight years. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family.
He is survived by wife Lillian; daughters Connie (Reino Passo) Nowacki of Minneapolis, Laura (Joseph) Russell of Twin Falls, ID, Bette Nowacki of Minneapolis, Renee (James) Larsien of Hartford, CT, and Melanie (Perry Vietti) Nowacki of Washington, D.C.; sons Brian (Tammey) of St. Paul, Randy (Julie) of Thief River Falls, Patrick (Lisa) of Minneapolis, Phillip of Racine, WI, Paul (Carralee) of Grand Forks, ND, Matthew and Jonathan both of Minneapolis; eight grandchildren; sisters Florence Banaszewski and Lucille Haugen both of Strandquist, Bernice Prodzinski of Grafton, ND, and Lorraine Bieniski of Argyle; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers John, Allen, Edmund, Frank and Norbert.
