
Greenbush - Norbert J. Novacek, 68, died Tuesday, February 18, 1997 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls. Arrangements were with Collins Funeral Home of Greenbush.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 22 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Leo, with Rev. Don Braukmann and Rev. Jim Lyons, and Rev. Eugene Wesley officiating. Burial was in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Leo.
Casketbearers were Marc Novacek, Noel Novacek, John Novacek, Luke Novacek, Lee Lunos and Jimmy Goroski.
Norbert John Novacek was born on June 4, 1928 in Greenbush, the son of Joseph A. and Josephine (Gonshorowski) Novacek. He attended school and grew to manhood in the Leo community, near Greenbush and was baptized and confirmed at St. Aloysius Catholic Church of Leo. He was united in marriage on October 10, 1950 to Glendora Danielson in Greenbush. Since their marriage they lived and farmed in Polonia Township, Roseau County, north of Greenbush. Norbert was a life-long member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church and served as a trustee there. He was also a member of the Greenbush Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by wife Glendora; daughters Stephanie (Mike) Kilen of Greenbush, Kathy (John) Cameron of Minot, ND, Monica (Joseph) Boehmer of Inver Grove Heights, Jacqueline of Mentor, Jo (Hector) Reese of Maple Grove, Anastasia (Kirby) Penas of Greenbush, and Andrea of Bemidji; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brothers Ernest of Roseau, Joseph C. and Daniel of Greenbush and David of Lake Park; sisters Emelia of Warren and Christine (Joe) Goroski of Baker, MT; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents; son Peter William; brother Jerome; and sisters Leona, Theresa, and Bernadette.
