John C. Novacek was born on August 1, 1941 in Devils Lake, ND, the son of John and Marie (Danielson) Novacek.
He attended school in Edmore, ND where he graduated from high school. He received his undergraduate degree from Mayville State College. John taught in Oberon, ND and Dickinson, ND before entering the School of Law at the University of North Dakota where he earned his Juris Doctorate in 1973.
He then moved to Thief River Falls where he established a private law practice.
On October 29, 1966 he married Sheryl Elliott in Bismarck, ND.
Survivors include his wife, Sheryl of Thief River Falls; two sisters, Marilee (Gordon) Baumgartner of Herreid, SD and Kathy Thomas of Las Cruces, NM; one aunt, Helen Novacek of Edmore, ND; and 10 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents. A00003B2000JA26
