
Thief River Falls - Gertrude "Trude" Nepper, 97, died Saturday, March 28, 1998 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 4 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend John Wollenzien officiating. Dee Wollenzein will be the organist, and Laura Toren will be the soloist. Casketbearers will be Thomas Nepper, John Nepper Jr., Scott Nepper, David Nepper, Chad Kelly, Colin McLaughlin, Ryan Kelly, Ben Erickson, Casey Nepper, Taylor Nepper, Jason Nepper, Sam Palacio and Nicholas Nepper. Honorary casketbearers will be William Ness, Anthony Ness, Basil Ness, Bloyd Ness, Owen Ness, Andor Ness, Bradley Ness, Darie LaVoi and Mark Buckner. Burial will be in St. Charles Borromeoa Catholic Cemetery in Trail.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Friday, April 3 at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls and for one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
Gertrude Ness as born on October 7, 1900 in Johnson township of Red Lake county to Anfind and Brita (Hauglem) Ness. She attended school in Gully and Bemidji.
In 1924, she was united in marriage to John Nepper at Plummer. The couple lived in Trail and Portland, OR before moving to Grand Forks, ND in 1928. John died in 1939.
Gertrude worked at St. Michael's Hospital from 1948 until 1971. After the flood of 1997, she moved to Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
She enjoyed visiting with her family, friends and neighbors.
Gertrude is survived by one son, John "Jack" (Beverly) Nepper of Omaha, NE, a daughter-in-law, Ruth Nepper of Thief River Falls, a son-in-law, Thomas Joyce of London, England; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Clara LaVoi of Fosston; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; one son, James Lowell Nepper; one daughter, Patricia Nepper Joyce; her parents; five brothers, Edwin, Elmer, Theodore, Boyd and George; and two sisters, Amanda Buckner and Louise Chase.
