Horace, ND - Randy Nelson, 32, died Sunday, February 9, 1997 in Kent Washington. Arrangements were with Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 14 at Zion Lutheran Church in Viking with Rev. Paul Chell officiating. Burial was in Viking Cemetery, Viking Township, Marshall County.
Casketbearers were Duane Volk, John Dyrdal, Gary Baumeister, Greg Dyrdal, Don Dyrdal, and Todd Lewis.
Randy Lee Nelson was born on December 8, 1964 in Valley City, ND, the son of John and Myrna (Olstad) Nelson. He was baptized in Nebo Lutheran Church in Valley City, ND. Randy moved to Thief River Falls where he attended school. He was confirmed at Oak Ridge Lutheran Church of rural Viking. He was united in marriage to Kristi Melvie in the spring of 1987 in Viking. They lived in various places and Randy was an over the road truck driver.
He enjoyed helping others with various jobs, including mechanics and had a knack of making people feel better. He enjoyed dirt bikes, go carts, snowmobiling, and all activities growing up.
He is survived by daughter Shandy Nelson of Viking; sons Jacoby and Jesse Nelson of Viking; mother of his children Kristi Nelson of Viking; parents John Nelson and his wife Joyce of Horace, ND and Myrna Olstad and her husband Doug of Valley City, ND; sisters Corey (Kent) Jonson of West Fargo, ND, and Dawn Nelson of Christine, ND; maternal grandparents Mylo and Olive Olstad of Valley City, ND; and paternal grandmother Anna Mae Nelson of Frazee.
He was preceded in death by son Jared Nelson in 1990; and paternal grandfather Lawrence Nelson.
