Grand Forks - Penelope "Penny" Nelson, 41, died Sunday, March 8, 1998 at her home in Grand Forks, ND of cancer.
Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, March 11) at 10:30 a.m. at Amundson Funeral Home in Grand Forks, ND. Visitation was held Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Grand Forks, ND.
Penelope Rose Babinski was born July 22, 1956 at Grand Forks, ND, the daughter of Damian and Julia (Byzewski) Babinski. She grew up and attended schools in Grand Forks, graduating from Central High School in 1974.
On April 30, 1977 she was united in marriage to Kenneth J. Nelson in Grand Forks. She graduated from Aaker's Business College in 1977 and was employed as a bookkeeper for Silverman's Clothing Store in Grand Forks for 17 years. She was currently employed as a receptionist at Grand Forks County Social Services.
Penny is survived by her husband, Kenneth of Grand Forks, ND; mother and step-father, Julia and George Phelps of Grand Forks, ND; one brother, Andy (Margaret) Babinski; and three sisters, Phyllis McCue of Salem, OR, Vicki Jones of Riverdale, GA and Brenda (Dallas) Russ of Thief River Falls.
She was preceded in death by her father, Damian Babinski, and an infant son, Joshua Nelson.
