
Oklee - Lillian H. Nelson, 91, died Sunday, August 2, 1998 at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 7, 1998 at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Oklee with Reverend Robert Paulson officiating. Marian Marquis will be the organist. Honorary casketbearers will be all of Lillian's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Burial will be held in Zion Cemetery near Oklee.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at Petterson Funeral Home in Oklee and also for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Lillian Helen Nelson was born on March 23, 1907 at Plummer, the daughter of Andrew and Rose (Thompson) Nelson. She was united in marriage to Virgil Nelson on February 9, 1927 in Grand Forks, ND. They lived and farmed in the Oklee area all of their lives. Virgil died on March 12, 1990.
Lillian was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Mary Circle. Her favorite pastime was baking, and she enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Vearl (Bette) Nelson of Babbitt and Lyle (Gen) Nelson of Sacramento, CA; three daughters, Bonnie (Alvin) Jensen of Oklee, Betty Janik of Milwaukee, WI and Carole DeFrang of Erskine; 24 grandchildren; 33-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Fran Burke of East Grand Forks and Ruby Strom of Moorhead.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Orlo, Lester and Chester; and five sisters, Myrtle, Pearl, Mabel, Hazel and Donna; and two granddaughters, Peggy Nelson and Sharon Jensen.
