
Thief River Falls - Eva Nelson, 94, formerly of Newfolden, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services
were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 12 at Westaker Free Lutheran
Church in Newfolden with Rev. LeRoy Flickinger officiating. Lois
Peter-son was the organist, and vocalists were Kathy Johnson, Jodi
Schultz and Kevin Nelson.
Casketbearers were Hugh Nelson, Tim Nelson, Kevin Nelson, Donovan Nelson, Jay Nelson, Robert Nelson and Todd Nelson. Honorary casketbearers were Dawn Dollinger, Debbie Custer, Kim Borwicz, Lisa Lefrooth, Margaret Erickson, Carol Wappala, Kathy Johnson, Susan Baker, Patty Woinarowicz, Mana Lee, Lorie Bring, Clarinda Johnson, Bonnie Johnson, Wendy Johnson, Wade Johnson, Brad Johnson, Howard Nelson, Marla Augustine, Nancy Engen, Jay Larson, Jake Larson, Caroline Larson, Jodi Schultz, Lisa and Danny.
Interment was in Westaker Cemetery in New Folden township of Marshall county. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Eva Willard was born on November 29, 1905 in Tracy, the daughter of Fred and Carie (Greenman) Willard. She met her future husband, Nels X. Nelson, in Michigan, N.D.
Eva and Nels were united in marriage on December 17, 1924 in Leonard. They lived in several places, including Montana and northern Minnesota. The couple managed the Sportsman Club in Middle River as well as the restaurant in Newfolden. They made their home in Newfolden until moving to the CNC Unit at Northwest Medical Center in November of 1998.
Eva is survived by one daughter, Delores (Raymond) Westerlund of Middle River; three sons, Art (JoAnn) Nelson and Edwin (Marcy) Nelson, both of Strandquist, and Donald (Julie) Nelson of Williams; one daughter-in-law, Annabelle Nelson of Strathcona; 30 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 30 great great-grandchildren; one brother, Bob (Myrtle) Willard of Scobey, Mont.; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nels on March 18, 2000; one son, Kenneth; two grandsons, Dwight and Dale Nelson; one great-grandson, Rett Erickson; her parents; three brothers, Roy, Ray and Eugene; four sisters, Stella, Nell, Pearl and Francis; and two daughters-in-law, Evelyn and Mildred Nelson.
