Richfield - Simon J. Nakken, 92, died Thursday, January 27, 2000.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 1 at Werness Brothers in Minneapolis. Interment was in Lakewood Cemetery.
He was a graduate of Moorhead State College with a Bachelor of Science degree. He obtained his master's degree from the University of Minnesota and taught in rural schools before becoming superintendent at Lakewood School in Duluth. He later began a career in the insurance industry, retiring as president of Milbank Mutual Insurance Co.
Simon is survived by his wife of 67 years, Hazel; one brother, Arnold (Elsa) of Roseburg, OR; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
