Sharon Murphy, 50

Thief River Falls - Sharon Murphy, 50, died Tuesday, August 15, 2000 at her home in Thief River Falls.

Mass of Christian burial was held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls with Father Dennis Wieland officiating. Darlene Votava was the organist, and special music was provided by Resurrection Choir. Casketbearers were Sean Murphy, Jason Murphy, Matthew Murphy, Larry Jorgenson, John Undem and Tim Miller. Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.

Sharon Christine Roberts was born on November 26, 1949 in Greenbush, the daughter of Joseph and Mabel (Bushie) Roberts. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended school in Greenbush, graduating from Greenbush High School in 1967.

Following high school, Sharon attended the Area Vocational Technical Institute in Thief River Falls, earning a medical secretary degree and later a degree in law enforcement. She also graduated from Northland Community College's nursing program, earning as LPN degree.

Sharon worked at Arctic Enterprises and as a drug and alcohol counselor at Glenmore. She was one of the founders of the Domestic Abuse program in Thief River Falls. She also worked as an LPN for Hospice and Good Samaritan Home in Warren. Currently, she was working as a corrections officer at the Pennington county facility.

On November 14, 1970 she was married to Roger S. Wold in Thief River Falls where the couple made their home and raised their family. Sharon was united in marriage to Dennis Murphy on December 5, 1986 at Roseau, and they made their home in Thief River Falls.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis of Thief River Falls; one daughter, Jacquelyn Wold of San Diego, Calif.; two sons, Roger (Tammy) Wold of Stillwater and Scott (Linda) Blackledge of Covington, Ky.; one stepdaughter, Marla (Rod) Olson of Mitchell, SD; three stepsons, Sean Murphy of Minneapolis, Jason (Shashaa) of Fort Lee, Va. and Matthew Murphy of Crookston; two grandchildren; four sisters, Ruth (Larry) Coltom of Thief River Falls, Ruby (Dean) Berg of Moorhead, Marlys (Merle) Wellen of Gillette, Wyo. and Marjo (Gayle) Zuberbier of Kingston, Ill.; and two brothers, Marlo (Lois) Roberts and Kirby Roberts, both of Seattle, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Darrell Roberts. A00003B2000AG23
