Marvin "Budd" Mugaas, 69

Grygla, MN - Marvin "Budd" Mugaas, 69, died Monday, July 7, 1997 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 11 at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla with Reverends Arlan R. Lloyd and Roberta A. Johnson officiating. Joy Nordby was the organist, and Donovan Ruud was the soloist. The casketbearers were all of Budd's grandchildren. Burial was in St. Olaf Cemetery in Valle township of Marshall County. Military rites were by the American Legion of Middle River. The Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Marvin Evert Mugaas was born to Adelsten and Myrtle (McDonagh) Mugaas on June 20, 1928 in International Falls. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith. He grew up and attended rural school in Gatzke. Budd worked on the family farm before entering the Army in 1951. Following his honorable discharge, he worked as a lineman for Sorkness. On December 10, 1956, he was united in marriage to Barbara Frank in North Dakota. The couple moved to Gatzke where they raised their family. Budd was a truck driver for Landseidel and Son Construction and Thygeson Contruction. He was united in marriage to Dolores Wynne in 1987. Budd continued driving truck until his retirement in l990 and resided in Grygal until his death.

Budd had many interests and a special fondness for his family and animals.

He is survived by his four children, Katherine (Gary) Bullock of Remer, Bruce of Middle River, Denise (Wayne) Thomas of Grygla and David of Grygla; his mother, Myrtle Mugaas of Naples, FL; twelve grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Clinton (Carol) of Naples, FL; three sisters, Adelyn Lundmark of LaPlace, LA, Janice (Phil) McClennen of Naples, FL and Mavis (Wallace) Johnson of Greenbush; eight stepchildren, Ken Olson, Norman (Cheryl) Olson, Steven (Gail) Olson, Jeff (Kari) Olson, Darryl Olson, all of Thief River Falls, Patty (Rodney) Carlson of Gatzke, Sandra (Elmer) Nelson of Thief River Falls and Debra (Glen) Limesand of Goodridge; 25 stepgrandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one stepson-in-law, Fred Zinter of Goodridge; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Budd was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores, on January 14, 1997, and his father, Adelsten.
