
Thief River Falls - Verna Mousley, 89, died Wednesday, January 27, 1999 at her home in Thief River Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, January 30 at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls with Father Dennis Wieland officiating. Carol Amundson was the organist, and Marie Nowacki was the cantor. Special music was provided by the Resurrection Choir. Casketbearers were members of the Knights of Columbus. Burial was in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery. The Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Verna Becker was born on March 28, 1909 in Thief River Falls, the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Hawkins) Becker. She grew up in Thief River Falls and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1926. She attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND and then taught for four years in rural schools in Pennington and east Marshall counties. During the 1930's Verna was employed by the Penning County Extension Department and worked with 4-H and Community Club activities.
On August 28, 1943 she was united in marriage to Emmett Mousley. He was owner and proprietor to Mousley Sign Company. Emmett died on September 15, 1980.
A lifelong resident of Thief River Falls, Verna was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, National Order of Foresters and the Cursillo Movement.
Verna is survived by one son, Frank Mousley of Appleton, WI; four daughters, Catherine Mousley of New York, NY, Margaret Mousley Kielty of Richfield, Sheryl Mousley of Minneapolis, and Maureen Mousley of Santa Rosa, CA; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one brother, Joseph D. Becker; and one granddaughter, Lisa Mousley.
