Warren - Victor Mortensen, 85, died Monday, December 13, 1999 at his home in Warren.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 17 at First Lutheran Church in Warren. Military rites were provided by Warren American Legion Post 27. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Warren with the Quanrud-DuBore Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Victor Otto Mortensen was born on September 21, 1914 in rural Warren. He was a life-long resident of the Warren area. From May 1, 1942 until October 26, 1945 he was in the U.S. Army, serving in Normandy, northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and central Europe. He was awarded the Bronze Star.
On September 21, 1953 he was united in marriage to Gloria Gehrls in Warren. The couple made their home in rural Warren where they farmed.
Victor enjoyed morning coffee with his friends, trapping and especially spending time with family.
He was a member of the Warren American Legion Post 27.
Victor is survived by his wife, Gloria; three daughters, Vicki (Ken) Hovet of Long Prairie, Brenda (Roger) Kotchian of Fargo, ND, and Dawn (James) Haugtvedt of Warren; three sons, Steve (Carol) of Hines, Tim of Warren, and Chris (Tami) of Barnesville; 11 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five sisters, Florence, Gladys, Arlene, Dorothy and Marcine; and two brothers, Carl and Bob.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son Kipp Otto; one brother, Allen; and one sister, Agnes. A00003B1999DC22
