Norman Morken, 78

Thief River Falls - Norman Morken, 78, died Friday, July 7, 2000.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11 at Pine Creek Lutheran Church in Pine Creek near Roseau. Military honors were accorded by the Roseau Memorial Honor Guard. The Helgeson Funeral Home of Roseau was in charge of the arrangements.

Norman Morken was born on September 21, 1921 in Pine Creek, the son of John and Olga ( Kjelaas) Morken. He went to school in Pine Creek and was baptized and confirmed at Pine Creek Lutheran Church.

Norman worked for Polaris for nine years and for Roseau County as a heavy equipment operator. He farmed for over 40 years in Dieter township of Roseau county. He retired at the age of 58 and lived in Thief River Falls for 13 years.

He enjoyed making things.

Norman is survived by his wife, Shirley of Thief River Falls; one daughter, Betty Morken of Roseau; one son, Roger (Catherine) Morken of Dayton, Texas; one brother, Gorman Morken of Greenbush; and one sister, Irene Qualey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Gladys Gross and an infant sister; and one brother, Arthur. A00003B2000JL12
