Clifford Monteith, 89

Moorhead - Clifford Monteith, 89, formerly of Devils Lake, ND, died Monday, October 6, 1997 at Eventide Nursing Home in Moorhead.

Funeral services were held Friday, October 10 at 2 p.m. at Eventide Nursing Home Chapel. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery in Fargo, ND. The Boulger Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Clifford W. Monteith was born August 30, 1908 at Lakota, ND where he grew up and graduated from high school. He was employed by his father in his meat market until he joined the Army Air Force in 1942. He was stationed at Spokane, WA until 1945.

Clifford was united in marriage to Esther Tuura on July 11, 1943 in Middle River. In 1947, he joined Monteith Meat Service at Devils Lake, ND. The couple lived in Devils Lake until 1976 when Clifford retired and they moved to Fargo.

The couple moved to Eventide Catered Living Center in Moorhead. Esther died on September 21, 1994. Clifford then moved to Riverview Place in Fargo, ND where he lived for one and one-half years. Since April, he had lived at Eventide Nursing Home. He was a member of Olivet Lutheran Church.

Clifford is survived by his daughter, Devonne (Ron) Markwardt; and two grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two sons, Donald Lee and an infant son; one sister, Blanch Huebner; and three brothers, Garner, Arnold and Wayne "Cye" Monteith.
