Alice Moen, 89

Hibbing - Alice Moen, 89, formerly of Oklee, died on Tuesday, July 21, 1998 at Golden Crest Nursing Home in Hibbing.

Funeral services will be held today (Saturday, July 25) at 2 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church near Oklee with Reverend Terry Cuppett officiating. Marian Marquis was the organist, and LaVonne Enerson was the soloist. Casketbearers were Jonathan Moen, Nathaniel Moen, Jason Moen, Daren Moen, David Klein and Robert Scott. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Petterson Funeral Home of Oklee was in charge of the arrangements.

Alice Jeanette Moen was born on December 7, 1908 on her family's homestead in Hickory township, the daughter of Christian and Mathelda (Larson) Christianson. She was raised and attended school in Hickory township. For one year, she also attended school for cosmetology in Fargo, ND.

On September 3, 1939 she was united in marriage to Henry Moen in Hickory township near Oklee. The couple lived and farmed near Harwood, ND until 1941 when they moved to a farm north of Oklee. They farmed and lived there until 1991 when they moved into Oklee. They resided in Oklee until February of 1998 when they moved to Hibbing. Alice worked at Oklee Manufacturing for two years and at Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls for five years.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and its ladies aid. She also taught Sunday school there.

Alice is survived by her husband, Henry of Hibbing; one daughter, Beverly (Stanley) Bakken of Hibbing; three sons, Bruce Moen of Oklee, Clyde (Laura) Moen of Thief River Falls and Clayton (Jacqueline) Moen of Rochester; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Orville Christianson of Thief River Falls; one sister, Mabel Roed of McIntosh; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one great-grandson; two brothers, Carl and Merritt; and two sisters, Mabel and Gladys.
