
Thief River Falls - Jassie Miramontes, 79, died on Thursday, January 15, 1998 at his residence in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held on Monday, January 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the Green Funeral Home Chapel in Thief River Falls with Deacon John Eisbrenner officiating. Grace Hammer was the organist. Vocal music was provided by Joel Kezar. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery in Wannaska.
Jesus "Jassie" Miramontes was born on March 12, 1918 in Del Rio, TX, the son of Benjamin and Paula (Serrano) Miramontes. As a young boy he moved with his family to Red Lake Falls and later to Thief River Falls where he attended school and grew to adulthood. He served in the military at Fort Snelling in the Twin Cities. Jassie worked at the L.B. Hartz Warehouse for nearly 50 years retiring on February 11, 1983.
He was married three times, lastly to Adeline Grefthen who preceded him in death. He continued to live in his home in Thief River Falls until the time of his death.
Jassie is survived by two sons, Marvin Miramontes of Albuquerque, NM and Kenneth (Bonita) Pearson of Minneapolis; two stepchildren, Jerome (Gretchen) Grefthen and Marian (James) Lundquist, both of Roseau; two grandchildren; two brothers, James (Kathy) Miramontes of Fifield, WI and Carlos "Charley" Miramontes of San Mateo, CA; one sister-in-law, Delores Miramontes of Thief River Falls; six stepgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Adeline; parents; five sisters, Tillie Sampson, Lois Ranum, Lupe Jarshaw, Sara Alarcon and Connie Gaskin; and one brother, Benjamin Miramontes.
