Leonard Miller, 84

Red Lake Falls - Leonard Miller, 84, formerly of Goodridge died on Wednesday, July 16, 1997 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 21, 1997 at 2 p.m. at Reiner Free Lutheran Church, rural Goodridge with Pastor Randy Moe officiating. Jolene Solheim was the organist and Vernon Iverson, the soloist. Casketbearers were all of Leonard's nephews. Burial was in Reiner Cemetery. The Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Leonard Miller was born on December 27, 1912 in Thief River Falls the son of John and Alma (Lee) Miller. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended rural school in Reiner township, Pennington County. Leonard farmed the family farm with his parents in Reiner township until 1949 when he went to work in the lumber mills in Anacortes, WA. In 1955, he married his wife, Mary. The couple lived in Springfield, MO where Leonard worked for Atlas Van Lines/Gilmore Transfer Company for 21 years. Mary died in Springfield, MO. Leonard married Maxine Cranor and they operated a senior citizen's home for several years before they moved to Evansville, IN in 1984. Leonard lived in Evansville, IN for a number of years before he moved to McCurdy Nursing Home where he resided for four years. In 1996, he moved to Hillcrest Nursing Home.

He was a member of Reiner Free Lutheran Church and attended Covenant Baptist Church in Evansville, IN. He enjoyed traveling, eating out and spending time with family and friends.

Leonard is survived by his sister, Julia (Arnold) Hovet of Thief River Falls; sister-in-law, Signe Miller of Thief River Falls; 15 nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his wife, Mary; parents and two brothers, Elmer and Morris.
