Emily Melhouse, 57

Shawnee, OK - Emily "Em" Melhouse, 57, died Tuesday, October 13, 1998 at her home in Shawnee, OK.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 16 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with Reverend Karen Fowler-Lindemulder officiating. Burial was in the Resthaven Memorial Park. The Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

Emily Gladys Christians was born on July 20, 1941 in Louriston township of Minnesota, the daughter of Enno G. and Clara Christians. She graduated from Murdock High School in 1959 and the Minneapolis School of Business.

She was a secretary to ROTC at the University of Minnesota until becoming a full-time homemaker in 1965. Emily moved to Shawnee, OK in January of 1978 where she was a member of the Elks ELGA and St. John Lutheran Church. She performed volunteer work for the Elks Lodge, the Shawnee School system and other community services.

Emily is survived by her husband, Ronald Melhouse of Shawnee; one son, Mark A. Melhouse of Shawnee; two daughters, Sheryl D. (Phil) Pflaum of Flower Mound, TX and Patricia G. Melhouse of Northville, MI; two granddaughters; four sisters, Marjorie (Ron) Klenski of Receda, CA, Eunice Boydston of Dalhart, TX, Janice Wolf of Hutchinson and Eva Melhouse of Coon Rapids; and one brother, Kenneth (Carol) Christians of Brooklyn Center. Local survivors include sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joyce and Herb Swenson of Thief River Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
