Zella McGlaughlin, 87

Warren - Zella A. McGlaughlin, 87, died Saturday, March 29, 1997 at the North Valley Health Center in Warren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 3 at 2 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Warren. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday at the Quanrud-DuBore Funeral Home of Warren and for one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Potomac Cemetery of Potomac, IL.

Zella Yuergens was born on December 1, 1909 on a farm in Marshall County, the daughter of Edward and Estella (Strader) Yuergens. She grew up in the Radium community where she attended grade school. She graduated from Warren High School in 1927 and teaching training department. She taught in rural schools in Marshall and Polk Counties until 1935 when she moved to Danville, IL to attend a school of beauty culture and worked as a beautician for 25 years. She was united in marriage to Ray McGlaughlin on August 17, 1940 in Potomac, IL. He died April 2, 1986. She moved to Warren a year ago to a retirement home, Summerfield Place, to be near her many nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the Lincoln United Methodist Church of Danville, IL and served as secretary of the Esther Circle for many years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by brother Kenneth of Racine, WI; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband; parents; sisters Hazel Schantzen, Ceciel Anderson, Minnie Palmer, Bessie Sorenson, Grace Parkin and infant sister Irene; brothers William and Howard.
