Lloyd McFarlane, 81

Karlstad - Lloyd D. McFarlane, 81, formerly of Greenbush, died Thursday, February 19, 1998 at the Roseau Area Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 23 at United Free Lutheran Church in Greenbush with Pastor Dennis Gray officiating. Darlene Wegge was the organist, and special music was provided by Rod Eastman. Casketbearers were Travis Lorenson, Trent Lorenson, Trevor Lorenson, Matthew Huntley, Ronald Peterson and Theron Stephens. Burial was in Barnett National Cemetery near Greenbush. The Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush was in charge of the arrangements.

Lloyd D. McFarlane was born on December 20, 1916 near Greenbush to Neil and Maggie (Marsh) McFarlane. He grew up and attended rural school near his home.

On November 19, 1938 he was united in marriage to Lola Ham at Warroad. They farmed in Huss township, and Lloyd also worked in the woods. He worked in road construction for 25 years, retiring in 1980. He continued to live on the farm until moving to Karlstad in 1992.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Lola; one son, Marvin (Eunice) McFarlane; four daughters, Sharon (Clarence) Flug of Embarrass, Lloydeen Huntley of Greenbush; Roberta (Dennis) Lorenson of Karlstad and Rayetta (Rick) Olberg of Karlstad; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arden of Greenbush and Russell (Barbara) McFarlane of Roseau; and one sister, Florence (Raymond) Revell of Auburn, WA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Robert Peterson and Ali Marie Olberg; one great-grandson, Shelby Smith; three sisters, Madeline and twins in infancy; and two brothers, Lester and Clarence.
