
Newfolden - Patrick D. McCullough, 89, died Saturday, August 30, 1997 at the home of his son, Loren, near Red Lake Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 5 at the Evangelical Free Church in Newfolden with Pastor Gary Barrett officiating. Vocal music will be provided by the Hoberg Family. Casketbearers will be Jake McCullough, Jim McCullough, Gary Peterson, Norman Wagner, Wayne Wagner, Ray Wagner and Conrad Burrell. Honorary casketbearers will be Patrick's grandchildren. Interment will be at the German Evangelical Cemetery in Middle River.
Visitation will be held after 5 p.m. on Thursday at the Collins Funeral Chapel in Middle River and at the church one hour prior to services on Friday.
Patrick Dennis McCullough was born on March 17, 1908 in Barnett township near Badger, the son of William J. and Nancy (Neely) McCullough. He attended school and grew to manhood in the Badger and Strathcona communities, and as a young man worked on a large ranch in Montana. On October 1, 1930, Pat was united in marriage to Selma Wagner at Warren. The couple farmed near Middle River until 1933 when they purchased the present farm in Holt township east of Newfolden.
In addition to farming, Pat was employed at the Water and Soil Conservation Office in Warren for seven years. He served on the Holt Town Board for six years and also on the former Holt School Board. He was a member of the Evangelical Free Church of Newfolden. Selma passed away in 1980. Pat retired from farming in 1980 and has spent time at his winter home in Florida. He enjoyed his family, gardening, music and country life.
He is survived by five sons, Gordon of Minnetonka, Russell (Jean) of Springville, IA, Dennis (Sharon) of Thief River Falls, Dale (Marlys) of Stillwater and Loren (Linda) of Red Lake Falls; three daughters, Delores Thomas of Nashville, TN, Arlene (Kenneth) Johnson of Benedict and Marlys (Dennis) Nelson of Apple Valley; 35 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Carl Burrell of Thief River Falls; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Pat was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one daughter, Patricia in 1996; one granddaughter; seven brothers and three sisters.
