Oklee - Oline Mathson, 98, died Wednesday, March 29, 2000 at Fair Meadow Nursing Home in Fertile.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 2 at Salem Lutheran Church near Oklee with Rev. Robert Paulson officiating. Marian Marquis was the organist, and the soloist was Susan Olson. Music was also provided by a trio consisting of Tian Mathson, Keisha Mathson and Kalane Mathson. Casketbearers were Oline's grandsons, Steve Lindberg, Kevin Mathson, Ross Mathson, Brandon Mathson, Braque Mathson and Tanir Mathson. Honorary casketbearers were her granddaughters, Susan Olson, Nancy Risch, Tian Mathson, Keisha Mathson and Kalane Mathson. Burial was in the church cemetery. The Petterson Funeral Home of Red Lake Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Oline Langie was born on December 4, 1901 at Wanke, the daughter of Tarjie and Bergit (Hegland) Langie. She attended a country school near Oklee. Oline worked for various farmers in the Fisher area. She also worked as a nurse's assistant at Gilett's Children's Hospital in St. Paul.
On November 25, 1934, Oline married Louis Mathson at Oklee. The couple farmed. Louis died on March 14, 1986. Oline had resided at Fair Meadow Nursing Home at Fertile since March 16, 1994.
She was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church, rural Oklee, for many years.
Oline is survived by two sons, Loren (Elaine) Mathson of South Heart, ND and Richard (Karen) Mathson of Panama City, FL; one daughter, Patricia (Walter) Lindberg of Alexandria; one brother, Thelmer (Jo) Langie of Petaluma, CA; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, her parents, three brothers and five sisters.
