Robert Marty, 81

Dickinson, ND - Robert "Bob" J. Marty, 81, died Friday, November 19, 1999 at St. Benedict Nursing Home in Dickinson, ND.

Services will be held on Friday, November 26 at 10 a.m. at Ladbury Funeral Home in Dickinson with Bernie Krebs officiating.

Robert Marty was born on October 31, 1918 in Dickinson, ND, the son of Robert and Robina (Tranter) Marty. He was raised on the family homestead north of Killdeer and educated at the "Island" school. He also attended Model High School for two years.

Bob worked as a hired hand at various ranches in the Killdeer area before marrying Gertrude Miller in 1940. He then farmed and ranched with his father, worked as a mechanic at John Deere and drove school bus. He was also a 4-H leader for 10 years.

In 1968 they moved to Minnesota where Bob farmed and ranched. He owned a service station and was the water superintendent for the City of Plummer where they resided. In 1991 they returned to North Dakota and lived in Dickinson.

Welding was Bob's pastime in his retirement years, and he enjoyed making horseshoe tables, horsehame tables, plant hangers and mirrors.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude; four daughters, Elaine (Dick) Semingson of Bowman, ND, Donna (David) Kono of Rhame, ND, Charlene (Richard) Schoenbeck of Belfield, ND and Peggy (Randy) Hlebechuk of Rhame, ND; five sons, James (Shirley) of Glendale, AZ, Leslie of Palm Springs, CA, Lynn (Dianne) of Hardin, MT, Harold (Bev) of Clarksville, TN and Erwin (Peggy) of Yucaipa, CA; 27 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Curtis; his parents; and one sister, Helen. A00003B1999NV24
