
Fergus Falls - Clarence Manderud, 72, died Friday, February 13, 1998 at his home in Fergus Falls.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 16 at 1 p.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church with Reverend Paul Hadland officiating. Burial was at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery at Fergus Falls. The Olson Funeral Home of Fergus Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Clarence Adolph Manderud was born on January 4, 1926 in Star township of Pennington County, the son of Gilbert and Mary (Tollefson) Manderud. He grew up near Goodridge and attended Rindahl and Dahlen country schools. From January 3, 1945 to January 27, 1947, Clarence served as a Seaman First Class in the United States Navy.
On August 6, 1947, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Iverson in Goodridge. The couple recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Clarence farmed until 1951 when he moved his family to Duluth where he was employed by Elk River Concrete Products. In 1968, he was transferred to Fergus Falls where he worked until the plant closed. In 1971, the couple moved to Long Lake, north of Fergus Falls. He retired in 1988 from the Mid-Am Dairy.
Clarence enjoyed his family, bowling, dancing and fishing. He was a member of the Elks and Eagles.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of Fergus Falls; one son, Wallace (Viola) of Fergus Falls; three daughters, Linda (John) Renkar of Chicago, IL, Virginia (Gary) Luetgers of Evansville and Donna (Charles) Bangs of Fergus Falls; nine grandchildren; one brother, Clifford of Minneapolis; one sister, Olga Burstad of Bremerton, WA; and many nieces and nephews.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Oscar, Albert, Rudolph, Gilmer and George.
