
Madison, SD - Kenneth A. Maki, 57, died Friday, December 25, 1998 at Madison Community Hospital in Madison, SD.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, December 30) at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison, SD with Reverend Bruce Iverson officiating. The Ellsworth Funeral Home of Madison, SD is in charge of the arrangements.
Kenneth A. Maki was born on September 28, 1941 in Biwabik, the son of Raymond and Elma (Wierre) Maki. The family lived on a farm in rural Aurora, and Kenneth graduated from Aurora High School in 1959. He attended Virginia Junior College at Virginia and the University of Minnesota at Minneapolis, graduating in 1965 with a degree in mechanical engineering.
On September 5, 1964 he married Carol Askelson at Big Canoe Lutheran Church in rural Decorah, IA. He worked for several companies in Minnesota and Wisconsin. For the past 12 years Kenneth has be employed as a project engineer by Gehl Company in West Bend, WI and Madison, SD.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Professional Engineers and Society of Automotive Engineers, the National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited and Lakes Co. Pro Pheasants. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking, and NASCAR racing.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Carol of Madison, SD; one daughter, Pam of St. Paul; one son, Brian (Shelley) of Ramsey; two granddaughters; his mother, Elma Maki of Aurora; three brothers, Eugene (Judy) of Negaunee, MI, Ed (Lois) of San Diego, CA, and Bill (Deb) of Aurora; several aunts and uncles; 14 nieces and nephews; and five great-nieces.
