Tena Loberg, 87

Grygla - Tena Loberg, 87, died Monday, November 17, 1997 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 20 at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla with Reverend Roberta Johnson officiating. Music will be provided by organist Berniece Jelle and soloist Joy Nordby. Casketbearers will be Gordon Jelle, Greg Jelle, Arnold Stanley, Todd Stanley, William Hanson and Wallace Paine. Burial will be at Valle Cemetery in Benville township of Beltrami County.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Tena Andrea Norby was born September 20, 1910 in Valley township of Marshall County to Anund and Anna (Strand) Norby. She was baptized and confirmed in the Valle Lutheran Church in rural Grygla where she also attended grade school. Tena worked at the Sand Hospital in Thief River Falls.

On December 24, 1935 Tena was united in marriage to Martin Loberg in St. Hilaire. The couple moved to Grygla where they raised their family and established Loberg's Garage. Tena was active in operating the business until their retirement. She also spent time working at the Grygla Cafe. Martin died on October 21, 1985, and Tena continued to reside in Grygla.

Tena enjoyed baking cookies for her grandchildren, reading newspapers, gardening, riding in the country and spending time with family and friends.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the WELCA group.

Tena is survived by one son, Mark (Debra) Loberg of Grygla; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one daughter, Corrine Loberg; two sisters, Mabel Stanley-Sletten and Hulda Hanson; and one brother, Ole Norby.
