Esther Lindquist, 85

Thief River Falls - Esther Lindquist, 85, died Monday, May 29, 2000 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 2, at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Phyllis Dalager will be the organist, and the soloist will be Van Swanson. Casketbearers will be Larry Grimley, Clayton Grimley, Marty Grimley, Richard Parnow, Darrick Wiskow and Brian Johnson. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Thursday, June 1, at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Esther C. Johnson was born on September 23, 1914 in Highlanding township of Pennington county, the daughter of John and Minnie (Bisbing) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Goodridge. She attended a country school and Goodridge High School. After her father became ill, she stayed home to help.

On October 12, 1937, Esther was united in marriage to Ame Lindquist at Thief River Falls. The couple lived in Thief River Falls and then in Bremerton, Wash. until 1952 when they moved back to Thief River Falls. Ame died on August 10, 1975. Esther worked for Border Drug for several years and also for Arctic Cat for some time.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Esther is survived by one son, Kenneth (Janet) Lindquist of Thief River Falls; two daughters, Janet (Frank) Dailey of Fargo, N.D. and Carol (Delaine) Johnson of Grand Forks, N.D.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Agnes Parnow of Goodridge and Betty Thompson of Seattle, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ame; her parents; three sisters, Laura Grimley, Mabel Halverson and Eileen Salveson; and three brothers, Lloyd Johnson, Harold Johnson and Roy Johnson.
