Alice Lindquist, 91

Oklee - Alice Lindquist, 91, died Tuesday, June 16, 1998 at Pioneer Memorial Home in Erskine.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 20, 1998 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Oklee with Reverend Robert Paulson officiating. Burial was in Zion Cemetery near Oklee. The Petterson Funeral Home of Red Lake Falls was in charge of the arrangements.

Alice Luella Lindquist was born on January 6, 1907 at Calio, ND, the daughter of August and Gunhild (Engen) Lindquist. She was baptized in 1908 at the Lutheran church in Egland, ND and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Oklee in 1921. Alice moved to Oklee with her family in 1915. She graduated from high school there in 1925. She attended the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis and Minnesota State College in Bemidji. She worked as a teacher and as a secretary to congresswomen from Minnesota and Idaho. She also worked as an executive secretary for the vice president of the School of Theology in Claremont, CA. Alice served in the WACS from 1943 until her discharge in 1945 and achieved the rank of corporal. She resided at Pioneer Memorial Home in Erskine from February 28, 1995 until the time of her death.

Alice is survived by two brothers, Willard (Vernice) Lindquist of Moorhead and Dr. Harold Lindquist of Oklee; three sisters, Marvel Sheets of LaPorte, Adella Lindquist of Oklee and Norma Sweet of Blaine; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Mauritz, Raymond and Vernon; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and one niece.
