Gladys Linder, 83

Thief River Falls - Gladys Linder, 83, formerly of Oklee, died on Friday, April 10, 1998 at her home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, April 15) at 1 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church near Oklee with Reverend Terri Cuppett officiating. Marian Marquis will be the organist, and Erica McGeary will provide special music. Casketbearers will be John Kolstoe, Dennis Linder, Orrin Linder, Ronald Linder, Steve Linder and Robert Torkelson. Burial will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Gladys Theresa Knutson was born on March 28, 1915 near Kindred, ND, the daughter of Henry and Minnie (Evanson) Knutson. She was baptized and confirmed at the Kindred Lutheran Church. Following her schooling in Kindred, she worked as a hired girl on the Haberstadt farm in rural Kindred, ND.

On November 14, 1936 she was united in marriage to Louis Linder. The couple moved to rural Oklee where they farmed and raised their family. After Louis died in 1971, Gladys moved to Thief River Falls where she has continued to live. She worked at Oakland Park Nursing Home until her retirement in 1982.

Gladys enjoyed spending time with family and friends, embroidery, crossword puzzles, walking and visiting at Hardee's and Gary's Bakery. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, rural Oklee.

Gladys is survived by three children, Henry Linder of Thief River Falls, Harold Linder of Lamar, AR and Beverly Linder of Denver, CO; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Edna Knutson of Fargo, ND, Lillian (Harold) Thue of Mitchell, SD and Doreen (Leo) Grobe of Moorhead; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers, Oswald and Harold Knutson.
