Amelia Lien, 65

Middle River - Amelia Lien, 65, died Thursday, July 2, 1998 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 7, 1998 at 10 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Middle River with Reverend John Jorgensen officiating. Special music was provided by Lois Peterson. Casketbearers were Roy Holmes, Rocky Holmes, Larry Sauve, Clayton Troskey, Jeff Langlie and Garry Tanner. Interment was in First Lutheran Cemetery in Middle River. The Collins Funeral Home of Middle River was in charge of the arrangements.

Amelia Josephine Lien was born on November 5, 1932 near Middle River, the daughter of Carl and Mary (Elden) Anderson. She attended school and grew to womanhood there and as baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

On October 15, 1949 she was united in marriage to Donald E. Lien at Middle River, and the couple made their home in the Middle River community. Donald died in 1969, and she has since resided at Middle River.

Amelia was a life-long member of First Lutheran Church of Middle River and a long time member of the Middle River American Legion Auxiliary and the Thief River Falls V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was a volunteer driver for those in need in the community.

Amelia is survived by one daughter, Debbie (Merlyn) Ornquist of Middle River; one son, Edward of Thief River Falls; three granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother, Stanley.
