
Warroad - Ruth Lewis, 96, died Thursday, July 15, 1999 at the Warroad Care Center in Warroad.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 18 at Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Warroad with Reverends Michael and Karen Holmberg-Smith officiating. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery in Warroad.
Ruth O. Klinger was born on February 22, 1903 at Matoon, WI, the daughter of Fredrick and Maria (Gottschalk) Klinger. She later moved with her family and lived in North Dakota, California and Washington.
In Everett, WA, she married Harold Olson and the couple had three daughters. After the couple separated, Ruth came to Warroad as a housekeeper for the Lee Lewis family.
On August 19, 1932, she and Lee Lewis were united in marriage at Baudette, and the couple had three sons. After Lee died in 1958, Ruth re-entered the field of nursing and was employed for many years in hospitals in Thief River Falls, Bluefield, WV and Warroad.
Ruth was a member of the P.T.A., Rebekka's and Zion Lutheran Church of Warroad. She was also a Cub Scout leader.
For the past 13 years, she had been a resident of the Warroad Care Center.
Ruth is survived by three sons, Bill (Marlene) and Bob (Linda), both of Warroad, and George (Debby) of East Grand Forks; two daughters, Mavis Davis of Bastian, VA and Kathleen (Frank) Ramiller of Mt. Morris, MI; one stepdaughter, Virginia (Alvin) Wiese of Humboldt; 28 grandchildren and at least one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Lewis; her parents; one daughter, Melba; nine brothers and sisters; and four grandchildren.
