
Hillsboro, ND - Harold Letnes, 84, died on Wednesday, January 28, 1998 at Hillsboro Medical Center Hospital in Hillsboro, ND.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 31 at 3 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. Honorary casketbearers will be his 11 granddaughters. His seven grandsons will be the casketbearers. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery in Hillsboro. The Wildeman Funeral Home of Hillsboro was in charge of the arrangements.
Harold Letnes was born on December 7, 1913 to Jens and Elise (Stokke) Letnes at Thief River Falls.
He attended school there until 1928 when he moved with his family to Hillsboro, ND. He attended the Crookston A.C. After his schooling, he farmed with his father and brothers until he was drafted into the United States Army. He served his country during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
On January 16, 1942 he was united in marriage to Harriett Wilson at Hillsboro. He was granted an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in 1946. Harold and Harriett farmed in the Hillsboro area their entire lives.
He was a member of the Osmon-Lane VFW and also served as a trustee for Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
Harold is survived by his wife, Harriett; five daughters, Sandy (Fred) Johnson, Deb (Lynn) Kritzberger; Rebecca (Tom) Bryl; Judy (Bob) Tweten and Corrine Doherty, all of Hillsboro, ND; and one son, Tryg (Linda) Letnes of Fargo; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Emma Anderson of Kennewick, WA, Evie Nord of Tucson, AZ, Marie Smith of Grass Valley, CA and Birdie Ford of Tucson, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Donna Mae; one grandson, Mark Fossum; one son-in-law, Ken Fossum; and four brothers, Lawrence, John, Even, and Leif.
