Mayvis Lerum, 71

Greenbush - Mayvis Lerum, 71, died Thursday, November 16, 2000 at her home in Greenbush.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 20 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Greenbush with Rev. Ernie Christensen officiating. Joan Haugen was the organist, and the vocalist was Marilyn Nelson. Burial was in Bethel Lutheran Cemetery in Greenbush with Gieseke Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mayvis Joan Anderson was born on December 19, 1928 in Kittson county, the daughter of Joseph G. and Mamie Kathleen (Anderson) Anderson. She grew up on the family farm near Greenbush and attended school in Greenbush, graduating in 1948.

On March 6, 1948, she married James Lerum at Greenbush, and the couple lived on a farm until 1956 when they moved to Minneapolis. They returned to the farm in 1960 where Mayvis had since made her home. James died in 1976. For many years, Mayvis worked as a nurses aid at Greenbush Hospital and Nursing Home.

Survivors include two sons, Merle Lerum of Greenbush and Craig (Janet) Lerum of Monticello; four daughters, Colleen Lerum of Owatonna, Lynette (Kenneth) Ambroz of Savage, Donna Lerum of Burnsville and Julie (Marvin) Bratland of Strathcona; five grandchildren; four brothers, Kennis (Lila) Anderson of Greenbush, Virgil Anderson of Rogers, Dale (Kay) Anderson of Badger and Cassel (Gloria) Anderson of Buffalo; a sister, Adrian (Donald) Pietig of Spicer; and two sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Douglas and Mark; and a brother, Glenee Anderson. A00003B2000NV22
