
Warren - Alice Lendobeja, 91, formerly of Goodridge, died Thursday, August 31, 2000 at North Valley Health Center in Warren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, September 6) at Telemarken Lutheran, rural Thief River Falls, with Rev. Raynard Huglen officiating. Carol Donarski will be the soloist. Casketbearers will be Brian Johnson, Gary Johnson, Elwood Tieman, Dan Johnson, Rick Kitley, Dave Wilson and Ted Koropatnicki. Honorary casketbearers will be residents and staff of Good Samaritan Home in Warren. Interment will be in Telemarken Cemetery in Kratka township of Pennington county.
Visitation was held from noon to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Tuesday, September 5, at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to today's services at the church.
Alice Brorby was born on July 28, 1909 on the home farm in Kratka township of Pennington county, the daughter of Christian and Anna (Boyer) Brorby. She attended country school and then moved to Thief River Falls where she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1924. She attended Normal Teachers School in Thief River Falls, and beginning at the age of 18, taught in several area country schools.
On June 21, 1934, Alice was united in marriage to Theodore Lendobeja at Thief River Falls. The couple made their home in Kratka township, and Alice attended Bemidji State College. After receiving her bachelor's degree in 1965, she taught at Knox School for many years. Following her retirement at the age of 71, she continued to substitute teach until she was 79 years old. Theodore died on July 11, 1963, and Alice continued to make her home on the farm near Goodridge until October of 1992 when she moved to Valley Home. In July of 1994, she moved to Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Warren where she had since resided.
Alice was a member of Telemarken Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and was active in Ladies Aid. She was also active in a garden club, 4-H and was a member of AARP.
She enjoyed gardening, embroidery, reading and crocheting.
Alice is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann (Ronald) Bodell of Warren; one daughter-in-law, Maxine Lendobeja of Milwaukee, Wisc.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, Glenn; and two sisters, Josie Olson and Pearl Olson. A00003B2000SP06
