Gerald Leiran, 63

Badger - Gerald Leiran, 63, died Sunday, January 17, 1999 at the Greenbush Nursing Home in Greenbush.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 20 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Badger with Father Bob LaPlante officiating. Phyllis Ellenson was the organist. Vocal music was provided by Joni Burkel, Chris Rhen and Natalie Leiran. Casketbearers were Keith, Kevin, Don, Fritz and Alan Leiran and Darlene Swenby. Military flag detail was provided by Badger VFW Post 3832. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Badger. The Gieseke Funeral Home of Badger was in charge of the arrangements.

Gerald Lee Leiran was born on June 15, 1935 in Beltrami, the son of Dennis and Helen (Beier) Leiran. He grew up in Beltrami and graduated from Fertile High School in 1953. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Alaska.

On February 4, 1974 he married Phyllis Kukowski. After the couple moved to Badger in 1974, Gerald worked at various jobs in the community.

He enjoyed woodworking and repairing appliances.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Phyllis, two sons, Keith (Tanya) Leiran of Ottertail and Kevin Leiran of Crookston; three daughters, Geralyn (Mark) Lunski of Minto, ND, Stacy Leiran of Warroad, and Kari Leiran-Otten of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; five grandchildren; his mother, Helen Leiran of Crookston; three brothers, Fritz (Doreen) Leiran of Grand Forks, ND, Don (Jean) Leiran of St. Cloud, and Alan (Mary) Leiran of Ada; and one sister, Darlene (Will) Swenby of Fertile.

He was preceded in death by his father.
