
Plummer - Charotte E. Leining, 88, died on Thursday, March 26, 1998 at Pioneer Memorial Home in Erskine.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 30 at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer with Reverend Clarence Johnson officiating. Linda Olson was the organist, and special music was provided by Merlin and Judy Carlson and Judy Olson. Casketbearers were Albert Tervo, Don Fox, Eddie Eskeli, Ray Nenonen, Arlan Koskela and Dean Koskela. Honorary casketbearers were all of Charlotte's former Sunday School students and everyone who called her friend. Burial was in the Emardville Cemetery near Plummer. The Petterson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Charlotte Evelyn Hanson was born on March 29, 1909 at Buxton, ND, the daughter of Charles and Nellie (Hesgard) Hanson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Buxton.
On October 20, 1932 she was united in marriage to Arthur G. Leining. They farmed at Buxton and Reynolds, ND and Hatton, ND until 1952 when they moved to rural Plummer. In the fall of 1983, the couple moved to Senior Housing in Plummer.
Charlotte was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hatton, ND and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer. She taught Sunday School for many years in both churches and was very active in the women's organization.
Charlotte is survived by one daughter, Carole (Jim) Wright of Plummer; three sons, Francis (Bernice) Leining of Wadena, Wayne (Barbara) Leining of Austin and Lyndon (Mary) Leining of Austin; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Carl (Isabel) Hanson of Hatton, ND; and one sister, Gladys Loing of Hatton, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur in 1985; one son, Arthur Jr. in 1967; one great-granddaughter, Andrea Jo; and one sister, Kathleen.
