
Thief River Falls - Norman Leader, 84, died Tuesday, November 23, 1999 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral se
rvices were held at
10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 27 at Trinity Lutheran Church in
Thief River Falls with Rev. John Wollenzien officiating. Grace Hammer
was the organist. Casketbearers were Tom Hoel, Richard Stenseth, Mark
Stenseth, Jerry Stenseth, Dennis Langevin, Pete Larson, Chad Larson
and Casey Larson. Military honors were accorded by the American
Legion and VFW Posts of Thief River Falls. Burial was in Greenwood
Cemetery. The Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls was in charge
of the arrangements.
Norman Leader was born on June 7, 1915 in Duluth, the son of August and Mary (Semrey) Leader. He grew up in the Argyle and Warren areas and farmed with his father. He enter the U.S. Army on August 12, 1941 and was honorably discharged on November 24, 1945.
Norman was employed at Bridgeman's Dairy in Thief River Falls for 27 years, retiring in 1979. Later he worked at the ODC and did can recycling in Thief River Falls.
On July 19, 1952 he was united in marriage to Ruth Stenseth Larson. They have been life-long residents of Thief River Falls.
Norman was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the VFW and American Legion and was a former member of the Eagles.
He enjoyed gardening, playing cards and hunting and was one who liked to drive around and keep busy.
Norman is survived by his wife, Ruth; one son Robert Leader of Thief River Falls; one daughter, Ellen (Mark) Langevin of St. Hilaire; two sons, Gary (Carol) Larson of Sitka, AK and Laurence (Barbara) Larson of Thief River Falls; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Elmer, Lawrence, Emery, Herman and James; and four sisters, Ella Anderson, Martha Kaphing, Frieda Berhow and Helen Sabo.
