
Grygla - Florence Lawrence, 84, died Thursday, January 13, 2000 at the Warroad Care Center in Warroad.
Funeral services
were held at 10
a.m. on Monday,
January 17 at United Lutheran Church in Gatzke with Rev. Paul Knutson
and Rev. Sandra Hollands officiating. Gloria Sistad was the organist,
and Mary Ann Lunsetter was the soloist. Casketbearers were Howard
Lunsetter, Wayne Lunsetter, Mylan Ruud, Lowell Smeby, Tom Waling and
Owen Hagen. Burial was in Valle Cemetery in Benville township of
Beltrami county. The Green Funeral Home was in charge of the
arrangements.
Florence Johnson was born on August 17, 1915 in Gatzke, the daughter of Helmer and Mabel (Jornlin) Johnson. She had a twin brother, Ray. The family moved to International Falls when the children were young and lived there for four years before moving to Muskegon, MI in a model T. They grew up in Muskegon, and Florence worked various jobs to support her brother so that he could attend school and graduate.
In 1942 she was united in marriage to Lloyd Lawrence, and they had one son, Ronald. In 1945 they moved back to Gatzke where Florence purchased a farm and raised sheep. Florence worked at Polaris, retiring in 1977 and in 1979 moved to Ronald's farm near Grygla.
She enjoyed flowers and working in the yard, nature, watching baby animals and listening to sports on the radio.
Florence is survived by one son, Ronald (Myrna) of Grygla; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Cora Lundwall of Glendora, CA; one sister-in-law; and special friend, Glen Saxvold of Grygla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Raymond and Erwin; and one sister, Lillian.
