Janice Laufman, 59

Thief River Falls - Janice Laufman, 59, died Tuesday, November 24, 1998 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 28 at 10 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend Marcia Sylvester officiating. Joyce Halbasch was the organist, and vocal music was provided by Joel Rude. Casketbearers were Brad Pederson, Troy Pederson, Lon Pederson, Jeremy Kees, Jared Alby and Mick McMillan. Honorary casketbearers were all of the staff at CNC-1. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls. The Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Janice Pederson was born on February 18, 1939 at Mercy Hospital in Thief River Falls, the daughter of Kenneth and Edna (Blomberg) Pederson. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. Janice attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1956. Following graduation she worked at various jobs.

In 1958 Janice was united in marriage to Carl "Sonny" Carlson in Thief River Falls where the couple made their home and Janice enjoyed being a homemaker.

In 1984 she married Ron Laufman in Grafton, ND.

On November 27, 1992 Janice entered the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center where she has since resided.

She enjoyed reading, doing craft work and watching movies.

Janice is survived by one daughter, Jody (Ryan) Bakke of Thief River Falls; one son, Shaun (Becky) Carlson of Thief River Falls; six grandchildren; two brothers, Kendall (Carol) Pederson of Red Lake Falls and Lyle Pederson of St. Hilaire; one sister, Cheryl Pederson of Hackensack, NJ; special friends, Bob and Jane Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Trent; and two brothers, Keith Pederson and Royce "Pincy" Pederson.
