
Mentor - Stanley L. Larson, 76, died Sunday, January 30, 2000 at Riverview Hospital in Crookston.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 3 at 10 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor with Rev. Sylvia Jerdee officiating. Marilyn Arness will be the organist, and the vocalist will be Duane Arness. Military honors will be accorded by Mentor American Legion Post 0421. Burial will be in Faith Lutheran Cemetery in Mentor.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday, February 2) from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service at Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services on Thursday. The Petterson Funeral Home of Red Lake Falls is in charge of the arrangements.
Stanley Leonard Larson was born on January 24, 1924 at McIntosh, the son of Albert and Sophie (Thoveson) Larson. He grew up and attended school in Erskine, graduating from high school there. In 1944 he entered the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan for one year. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant T5 in 1946.
He returned to Mentor where he worked at the creamery for a time and then managed the liquor store for 27 years, retiring in 1985.
On June 25, 1963 Stanley was united in marriage to Eraine Sabourin in South Dakota. Eraine died on March 2, 1993.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening and yard work and was a member of the Lions Club, Mentor American Legion Post 0421 and VFW Post 3839. He also served on the Mentor City Council for many years.
Stanley is survived by his mother, Sophie Larson of McIntosh; two sisters, Violet Lecy of Long Prairie and Shirley Hubbert of Overton, NV; stepchildren, Darold (Dolores) Dalton of Miltona and Donna Glass of Mentor; daughter-in-law, Karen Dalton of Minnetonka; sister-in-law, Mabel Sabourin of Brooks; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert; wife, Eraine; stepson, Dwight Dalton; sister, Marion Golden; and brother, Arnold Larson. A00003B2000FB02
